Dr. Soham Bhattacharjee is a dynamic surgeon, skilled in general surgery and oncosurgery. He is adept at open, laparoscopic and laser surgeries. He has extensive subspecialty training in cancer surgeries especially of the digestive and urogenital system.

1. As a DNB Resident in Department of Surgery, he actively undertook teaching activities for
his junior residents in surgical and allied departments, Resident House officers and interns as it is a MCI recognised centre for internship.
2. As a senior resident, Surgical Oncology he was involved in mentoring junior residents, nurses and other allied staff at CNCI, Kolkata.
3. As a Consultant Surgeon, he has been actively involved in mentoring his junior
colleagues, nursing staff, OT technicians and allied health professionals.
He graduated from one of the top medical colleges in the country, JIPMER, Pondicherry. Thereafter, he went on for his general surgical residency at SAIL hospital in Bhilai and was subsequently awarded his board certification DNB (Diplomate of the National Board) in General surgery. He also became a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons, London UK. Therafter, he trained in surgical oncology at CNCI, Kolkata which is one of the busiest cancer centres entire eastern India from 2018-2020.
Previously associated with Medica group in Kolkata and Siliguri, he is currently associated with some renowned hospitals across Kolkata. Throughout his practise over the years, he has been awarded various fellowships and memeberships of reputed National and International organisations.
He believes in an individualised approach to his patients. His skills combined with compassion and dedication towards patients has helped him achieve outstanding treatment results over the years.
Dr. Soham Bhattacharjee provides compassionate care to all his patients to the best of his ability. At present, he is involved in the surgical management of patients admitted under his care in various hospitals across Kolkata.
As a result of his extensive training in general surgery, minimal access surgery, laparoscopy and surgical oncology, he has been able to build a valuable skillset that allows him to provide a high standard of surgical care to all his patients.
Apart from general and basic laparoscopic surgery, he performs a wide range of
advanced laparoscopic procedures with excellent results. Some of them being as under:
• Laparoscopic surgery for bile duct stones, Extrahepatic biliary tree abnormalities
• Laparoscopic surgery for various cysts of abdominal solid organs like liver, spleen, kidneys and ovaries.
• Laparoscopic surgery for hiatus hernia.
• Laparoscopic surgery for GERD and reflux esophagitis (fundoplication).
• Laparoscopic splenectomy.
• Laparoscopic nephrectomy.
• Advanced laparoscopic surgeries for all abdominal wall herniae.
• Laparoscopic surgery for pelvic organ prolapse.
• Advanced laparoscopy for various gynaecological conditions.
In addition to these, he has developed a keen interest in laser proctology wherein he uses diode lasers for minimally invasive therapy of hemorrhoids, anal fissure, anal fistulae and pilonidal sinus.
All cancer patients consulting him are managed as a part of a multidisciplinary team involving Radiation oncologists, Medical oncologists, Diagnostic radiologists and Onco-pathologists in his peer group with whom he shares a healthy rapport. This enables him to provide the best possible solution to each patient and individualise treatment to achieve the desired outcome.
Having been trained extensively as a part of the department of Surgical Oncology at a designated Regional Cancer Centre which is one of the busiest in eastern India, he caters to patients with breast, gastrointestinal, oral, urogenital, gynecological, skin and musculoskeletal tumors. He has rotated among specialised organ system based surgical units. Having operated on several patients independently, many under supervision and having assisted senior consultants, he has developed a valuable surgical repertoire.
Following are some of the major cancer surgeries he performs routinely:
• Radical and conservative surgeries for breast cancer with axillary dissection and sentinel biopsy.
• 3D excision and comprehensive neck dissection for cancers of oral cavity with basic reconstructive surgery.
• D1+/D2 curative radical and palliative gastrectomies, gastric bypass for stomach cancers.
• Radical/Extended cholecystectomy for gall bladder cancer.
• Pylorus preserving and classical pancreaticoduodenectomy for periampullary and pancreas head cancers.
• D3 Colectomies, Anterior resection, LAR, APR for colorectal cancers - both laparoscopic and open.
• Radical nephrectomy for renal cancer - both laparoscopic and open.
• Radical cystectomy/anterior pelvic exenteration with ideal conduit for urinary bladder cancer.
• Radical hysterectomy for cervical and endometrial cancers.
• Cytoreductive surgeries for ovarian cancers/ colonic and peritoneal surface cancers.
• Partial and total penectomy with inguinal dissection for penile cancers.
• Wide excision for skin and soft tissue sarcomas.
• Pelvic and Retroperitoneal node dissections as indicated.
